Yarr, I should go to bed, and probably will do so after I post this entry. It’s spring break and I’m enjoying the time off, though I’m still busy. I have to do my taxes and I so don’t want to, but I kind of need the money I’m sure to get back, and the sooner I file them the sooner I can fill out the FAFSA. I had hoped last year would be the last time I had to submit a FAFSA, but since I decided to go to graduate school and I am le poor, I have to do it again. It’s always a pain because it requires information about my parents’ taxes, so I have to pester them and wait until they’ve filed their taxes.

Jon and I made a chicken pot pie together today and, I must say, it turned out very well. We amended the recipe some, based on Allrecipes user comments, using more onion, celery salt instead of celery seed, adding garlic powder, using less broth in the sauce, boiling the chicken in broth, using deep-dish pie crusts, and coating the inside of each crust with egg white. Tomorrow, we’re going to make my mother’s cheesecake recipe which I think is pretty awesome because it’s a two-layer cheesecake: the bottom is the regular cheesecake part while the top is a sweet sour cream-based layer.

I’ve started watching Lost and while I thought part 1 of the pilot episode was retarded (really, they’re going to pull the whole mysterious unknown monster in the woods bit?), part 2 and the following episode were good. Jon and I are also working through season 3 of Battlestar Galactica and he keeps telling me that the season finale is going to ‘blow my mind’. Whenever I try to query as to how it will do this, however, he won’t say. It’s my bet that Starbuck is a Cylon and Gaius is going to start some new religion, but we’ll see.

Other things I need to do:

1. Work some on the Computer Science Department web site.
2. Work on my CS 499 team project. I hassled with that some today, trying to get separate user accounts set up and allowed to access the Subversion repository on my server. That got mucked up because somehow the group on my user’s home directory on Dreamhost got changed and I couldn’t change it back, so all sites in that home directory were giving 403 errors. Finally some process on the Dreamhost server reset the group ownership so the repository browser and our project site show up, but now the other users I wanted to have access to the repository do not because they can’t read the home directory. I’m thinking of moving the dern repository to another server, one that I have sudo access on. :P
3. Pack up some shit! I have too much stuff at my apartment and I know it’ll be a pain to move, so I’m going to bring a lot of it home to my parents’ house for storage until I have need of it again. My bags of receipts are top on that list and, really, I should probably just burn them because I don’t think there’s going to be a problem with a $5 fast food meal I bought two years ago…
4. View an apartment. There’s one apartment place I’ve been considering because it’s really cheap for this area, but I have to go view it because it may be a crap-hole. I have hope, though, because it would have to be one heck of a crap-hole for me to turn it down at its stated price, plus it’s close to campus.

A good academic note: I am an entomological badass, apparently, because I got a 104% on our exam the other day. :)
