philosophy and Twilight

Wow, what do I blog about? I’m about to skip my astronomy class because, darn it, it’s wet out there and my feet hurt and I just want to huddle indoors by the warmth of a laptop. I’ll feel guilty later for skipping it, I just know it, but maybe I’ll decrease that guilt if I read a lot for my other classes (namely philosophy and honors) tonight, as I should anyway. We’re reading Descartes in honors and I can’t believe the guy is responsible for Cartesian coordinates or anything mathematical at all, because his prose is ridiculous to try and comprehend. I muddled through a few pages the other day, and it’s so incredibly slow to read because it takes forever for the man to finish a sentence, and I don’t understand it half the time anyway. We’re reading Mozi (moat-su, which irritates my brain because I mentally pronounce it as “moh-zee”) in philosophy and it’s okay, certainly easier reading than Descartes, but still boring because I just don’t care about the subject. It fulfills a requirement, which is the only reason I’m taking the class.

I don’t know if Dreamhost or Wordpress is having issues, but ever since I upgraded to 2.6.something, half the time when I try to load my /wp-admin directory, I get a 404 error. I reload and it goes away, but it’s annoying when I have to keep reloading to see anything. Damnit, I know you’re there, page, so why won’t you just show up? It’s especially bad when I hit ‘Save’ on a post and get a 404, so I just have to depend on the browser being able to resend my POST data in order to not lose all my entry. That’s one shoddy excuse for me not having updated this blog in a while, at least. Dunno if you follow (it’s in the sidebar, at least in the Round Black theme), but I’ve been updating my Twitter pretty often. It’s convenient being able to post Tweets from my cell phone.

So there’s Big Blue Madness this Friday night which is the first men’s basketball practice of the season, and all the UK fans go out in droves to watch the practice at 10:30 p.m. because we’re insane. I don’t even care for basketball but I’m going. I don’t know why I’m going, I think because I had nothing else to do and Jessica suckered me into it. I waited out in the wee hours of the morning a couple weeks ago to get tickets, but that at least gave me more opportunities, while waiting around, to read the Twilight series.

Ahh, Twilight. You can bet I’ll be just like every other fan girl come November, waiting in line at the theater to see it. I’m excited about it, but I fear it won’t be as good as the Harry Potter movies (the books already can’t measure up). I figure the only reason I’ll like the movie is because I’m a fan of the books, well up to the fourth one, anyway. The fourth book was crap; I don’t know what Meyer was thinking. Renesmee? Honestly! I’d never have brought that character in at the last minute, just to have a plot device. I wanted to read about Bella handling the change to being a vampire, but noooo, she just fluidly transitioned with no troubles. Bunch of crap, if you ask me.

  • I shouldn’t have read that last paragraph…. I’ve started the book though!
    Peace

  • Bella turns into a vampire?! Darn, now I know.

  • I think your problems with the Wordpress admin panel are probably something to do with Dreamhost, because I’m also using version 2.6 and I don’t get that problem (I’m with a different host).

  • “…well up to the fourth one, anyway” - I think that Breaking Dawn is the final book of the Twilight series D:

and dude, all that talk of philosophy books and astronomy classes… :S what exactly are you studying?

  • Bleh, something tells me the movie won’t be as good or as awesome as the book.

I’ve read the books again and I realized the fourth book was stupid and I don’t think it was as awesome as the other books.

Most of Breaking Dawn is filled with “OMG They’re coming! Protect Bella! Protect Renesuh… uhm… Renesmee! *panicz*” nonsense.
