"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity; in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution."

a bloomin’ onion and a sore nose
The girls and I had a good time last night. We waited for almost an hour to get into the restaurant because it’s one of the few places around town where you can get a good meal cheap. We ordered a bloomin’ onion as an appetizer and I am about to find out [...]

human statues
When leaving my apartment earlier to go hang out with Todd and the gang, I noticed a guy across the road spray painting his foot. Him and his friend were both silver from head to toe. They wore gray slacks and gray wife beaters, and their skin was painted in shiny, metallic silver. [...]
duckling photos
A quick note to say that my dad uploaded photos of our new ducklings and they’re adorable, should you want to see them. The momma ducks are miniature ducks (they’re about the size of fat pigeons) anyway, so those babies have got to be tiny. I love ducks. :)
one final down
Eeeexcellent (Mr. Burns’s voice there). I’ve finished my microcomputer organization final and, hot damn, it wasn’t bad. There were 22 questions and we were to skip 2 of them; skipping isn’t optional, either. If we choose to not skip the required two questions, when the exam is graded, our professor will pick [...]

Sacred-Nights.com
Whoa.. I’m here already? Well, to conclude this review… whew.. what to say? With the exception of some minor things to improve on, your website is definitely on my list of “top few websites that Trisha visits frequently.” To be on such a list is almost near impossible, so you know you’ve a special website on your hands.

nasty pizza and a free day
Pfhew, I’m halfway done with finals with only two left on Thursday. I think my algorithms final today went all right, though it was harder than I expected. I’m really not worried about it, though, because the professor is incredibly easy with grading.
I wanted to fix dinner tonight for Todd and myself and [...]

fat cat photo
Oh God, I love it: 23″ weighst photo of cat from I Can Has Cheezburger?. Sigh, if only my “weighst” could be as small as that cat’s. Someone needs to put that thing on a diet. Thanks for the link, Todd.
using AJAX to spiff up a gallery
Lightbox is nice and all, but sometimes I find it clunky, particularly in Firefox when I have a lot of other tabs open. However, I don't want to go the route of having an image load by itself in the browser, because it would be so much nicer to have it integrated into my [...]

being a recluse and Spiderman 3
I came to my parents’ house today to spend a week in the country. I enjoyed this afternoon, talking with my parents and catching up on things, but now the boredom has set in. I’m missing Todd and at a loss for what to do, since I couldn’t find anything on TV and [...]
catfishing
My brother, my dad, and myself spent all of yesterday afternoon fishing for catfish at our pond. I hadn’t planned to, but then my dad went to get a drink and I was left watching his pole… of course it got a bite. I freaked out and grabbed the pole, upside-down apparently, [...]
back when men were men
I was just reading on Snark about how Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy is sooo dreamy. I don’t understand how; I really don’t like the emo look on guys. Leave the girls’ jeans to the girls, damnit, and cut your hair! I think it creeps me out partially because I dislike [...]

grades and a new schedule
All my grades have been posted and I was finally able to get through the slew of “error codes” and Javascript malfunctions that is UK’s grade-checking system in order to see them myself. I got A’s in algorithms and biology and B’s in discrete math, microcomputer organization, and the second physics lab. Not [...]
being P.C. is often doubleplusungood
I was just reading an entry on The Blog That Boredom Built about how the author calls herself childfree, meaning she has no children and doesn’t want any. I don’t care one way or the other about that, but I do take offense at the perceived necessity for 1) a label to apply and [...]

freedom and Calvin and Hobbes
It’s wild not having homework to do. I’m sitting around on my computer, dancing along to Alanis Morissette, and I was starting to feel guilty for not being productive. Then I realized that, hey, I don’t have anything I should be doing, really. I could work on my FAFSA, but that’s about [...]

using AJAX to implement a live search
I recently implemented a live search on the quotes page, so I figured I'd give a tutorial on how I did it. A "live" search is like a regular search feature, but if the user has Javascript enabled, the search will run as they type, instead of waiting for them to hit the 'Submit' [...]

put up or shut up
I’ve been so disgusted since yesterday evening when I found out that Microsoft is alleging Linux of patent infringement, but today a few articles have calmed me down:
This is, to me, Darl II: “Our precious IP is worth beeelions, and you must honor our sacred intellectual property, which is behind this curtain. We can’t exactly [...]
Sun’s advice to Microsoft
Hahaha, this tickles me to death. In Jonathan Schwartz’s blog, he writes:
So what’s my view on this interview in Fortune—in which one of Sun’s business partners claims the open source community is trampling their patent portfolio?
You would be wise to listen to the customers you’re threatening to sue—they can leave you, especially if you [...]
