finals and Mario

I’m starting to feel the stress of encroaching finals, so that any time I’m relaxing in front of the TV or idly surfing the ‘net, I have in the back of my mind a worry that I should be doing something productive. I think all my classes this semester have finals, which is new for me because before I’ve always had some class that didn’t have a final, or the final was optional. I’ve been working a lot on my databases project, which is due December 7th. I have a partner for it, but he’s new to both Ruby and databases, so I’ve been doing a lot of re-checking of his code to see that it’s done in more of a Ruby way than a C++ way, since he comes from a C++ background. We’ve been making use of a Subversion repository I set up on 3till7.net, which has been very convenient because we can easily see what the other person has done recently, and we don’t have to worry about constantly sending each other files via email. I’ve got part of a tutorial written on version control with Subversion, so I need to finish that and get it posted here.

I’m incredibly excited that this week is only a two-day week, and that I’ll get to go home for several days starting Tuesday night. I plan on bringing my Wii and replaying Super Paper Mario so that my dad can watch. He’s seen me play Paper Mario, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, but only a little bit of Super Paper Mario, which I sucked at then. However, I’ve already beaten the game and by now I’m pretty darn good at it, so I should be more entertaining to watch this time around. I’m the same way: I love watching Todd or my brother play video games. Todd’s been playing Super Mario Galaxy recently, and while it’s a pretty game that’s entertaining to watch, I think I’d suck at it because I suck at Super Mario Sunshine, and it’s the same kind of game. I much prefer 2D games because I can actually control my character in them.

Yeah, it actually takes a long time. I feel more sorry for the Finnish speaking part of the population though, that translation comes out in April 2008… Most of them have probably read it in English though.

Good luck with your finals, I hope you do well!

:D I love Mario games! But, have yet to buy a Wii so haven’t played Super Paper Mario… yet.

I wish you all the luck with your finals and hope you do well. :)

I think it’s cool that you like watching people play video games, but I didn’t know you sucked at Sunshine. I don’t suppose you ever played Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. THAT was uncontrollable. It did not help that the game’s many thermal detonators killed everything in a 5 mile radius, including you, except the things you intended to kill.
