wedding fonts and turkey

Today has been a really pleasant day for the most part. I’m at Todd’s parents’ house and all the kids (ha, they’re all older than I am) are home, so we have a full house. I worked with Todd’s sister Sue today, helping her decide on a font to use for wedding invitation envelopes since she’s engaged. The girl has apparently been going crazy, what with interviewing for residency spots (she’s a med student) and planning a wedding, so I was glad to help her out. We looked through DaFont after discovering that it would cost between $2-10 per invitation if she had someone handwrite calligraphy for the addresses. We found several fonts that she liked and I wrote a fake address up in Photoshop for each font, then printed them all out so she could look them over side by side. She decided on Renaissance in the end.

We had a ginormous (if that ain’t a word, I declare it is now!) turkey dinner involving a 23-pound bird, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, peas, corn, homemade rolls, cranberry sauce, dressing, and sweet potatoes; man, do I love it when Todd’s mom cooks. Any time one of the kids has a birthday, they get a turkey dinner because they’re a bunch of turkey fans over here. My family never does turkey because we get sick of the leftovers; we’re more of a ham or roast kind of family. So it’s nice to get turkey for a change, and we’ll be taking back a lot of it tomorrow to eat on for the rest of the week.

The only sucky spot of the day was this morning when I slept too long, giving myself a headache. Any time I oversleep, when I finally do wake up, I feel like crap. Today was especially bad, which I discovered when I went with Todd and Sue to Wal-mart to pick up some things. The roads around here usually make me feel queasy because they’re so curvy, but today with the headache already, I ended up feeling downright sick. I had nausea and a headache for several hours this morning, but eating a chicken sandwich from Wendy’s perked me right up.

And now I have to chase Sue’s one-eyed cat off the table before she knocks over the cake stand…

  1. Ugh, it must have inactivated the email account again, I haven’t logged in for 30 days… You could try emailing me at the address I’m commenting with.

Renaissance is a pretty font, I used to use it all the time when I was just starting out with websites and stuff. It’s great for a lot of things, but these days I’d never use it for a layout. I bet it’ll look great on wedding invitations.

  2. Thats a really nice font! Paying money for having it handwritten is crazy o_o

I hate oversleeping aswell, usually ends up making me feel more tired when I wake up which is weird.

Hope you had fun chasing that one eyed cat! :P
