proofs and Yip Yips

The week is almost over and I’m very glad about that because I’ve had two exams to prepare for and stress over. My first was yesterday in logic and theory of computing, and it took the full hour and fifteen minutes for me, but I think I did okay. It involved a lot of prove/disprove-type questions, and I hate proving things. I always want to just write out my reasoning for why something is true or false, and my professors invariably want me to mathematically prove it. That’s all well and good, but I hate setting out to prove things with math. I enjoy math, but I enjoy its structure and regularity; when you have to prove something with it, it’s like you’re randomly manipulating some functions, poking and prodding at them until they tell you what you want. I dislike that randomness, mostly because I usually don’t know how to poke at the equations to generate the desired result.

Jessica and I watched several videos of Sesame Street’s Yip Yips last night, laughing and feeling very nostalgic throughout. Here are some we watched:

This lead to us looking for Yip Yips merchandise online, which was unsuccessful, but we did find a sounds archive full of recordings of Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, Grover, Oscar, and other Muppets. The best part, however, was the Yip Yips ringtone, which we’re both now using on our phones because it’s awesome. I wonder how many people will be taken back to being 5 years old again when our phones go off around them?

  1. I’ve also had a few exams. Most recently math and I’ll be having chemistry next week. I guess we’re all very busy and stressed up now-a-days.

I too often find myself enjoying many of the programs and movies I saw when I was little. There is nothing wrong with being nostalgic…

  2. I have a yip yip soft toy for sale – it’s brand new. It’s a 5inch pink one. if you would like it then make me an offer as i really don’t know how much it’s worth.
