layout ideas and heat

I think I’m going to work with one of the rose photos that I took yesterday (see the photo gallery) in a new layout here. I found a beautiful site yesterday, thanks to its submission to Perfection: CHNL, and I’m jealous of its layout. Its muted color scheme is really pretty as well as sleek looking, and I’m inspired to try and create something with a mostly pink color scheme (due to the color of the roses) myself. We’ll see if I can come up with anything original and attractive.

Todd and I went swimming for a while earlier, and his pool’s water was incredibly warm. It was akin to bath water, I figure due to a mixture of the cover kept on it when it’s not in use and the extraordinarily hot weather we’ve been having lately. It was 106°F yesterday, for example. I heard someone comment the other day, and I can’t even remember who, that it’s no wonder Yankees thought us southerners were lazy people, back in the days of the Civil War: they saw us all sitting around on porches, fanning ourselves and drinking sweet tea. However, it was for good reason: it’s so darn hot!

  1. Thank you! I’m incredibly flattered. :)

Strangely enough, my incoming links radar picked up your link to my site which caught my attention .. and from there I learned my site had been accepted in Perfection. You found out before me!

106 degrees sounds brutal. I was in Kentucky fairly recently (a couple weeks ago) and even though it hovered around the 96-98 mark, the humidity is ridiculous!

Good luck with the new layout. I actually quite like the one you have up right now. Did you take the picture of the rose yourself? If so, I must say.. you did a great job on Photoshopping the background out. I can never get that just right without it looking horribly “cut out”.
