I came to my parents’ house today to spend a week in the country. I enjoyed this afternoon, talking with my parents and catching up on things, but now the boredom has set in. I’m missing Todd and at a loss for what to do, since I couldn’t find anything on TV and the Internet connection is slow. Some friends of my dad’s are visiting, which is annoying because I was hoping to settle in and relax without having to deal with anybody unfamiliar. I suppose I’m feeling a bit antisocial. Kids came along and I don’t want to sit around talking with them, so I’m hanging out on my laptop upstairs. Mom and I will be going shopping and to visit an aunt at some point during the next week, which will get me out of the house at least.
I’m also frustrated that a rash I’ve had previously on my hands and feet has come back, at least on my hands. It’s not itchy or anything, it just results in little colorless bumps. Fortunately, I had some cream that was prescribed to me still in my suitcase, so I can at least treat it while I’m here.
I’ve been writing on another AJAX tutorial, this time dealing with a “live” search that I’ve implemented on the quotes page. I don’t know why I haven’t written more tutorials, because I could certainly pass along some knowledge of Javascript and other languages that I’ve gained.
I made dinner tonight, which was nice because the only thing I’ve cooked for my family before was bread, and that’s easy because I have a bread machine. Not that tonight’s dinner was complicated, as it was only spaghetti, but it’s a start. I cook all the time for Todd and myself, and then I fixed pork ribs for Todd’s family, but Mom’s queen of the kitchen here. I actually never learned to cook growing up because she always just wanted it done right, so would shoo me out of the kitchen rather than letting me take over. I’ve learned since going to college, though, and feel the need to show off my skills to my family.
The only grade that’s been posted so far is discrete math: B. It turned out that getting up early for that 8 a.m. final didn’t help after all, because I had a B before the final and apparently made no higher than a B on the final, since the professor was going to keep our highest grade as the overall grade. Nuts. At least it’s over now, and a B is a fine grade. I’ll be tickled to know my others; they should be posted this next week. Todd got A’s in each of his graduate classes; that’s my clever honey. I can deal with math and programming and all that, but I’ve no interest in business, which is what he’s working on now. He’s got his B.S. in computer science and UK offers an M.B.A. program that can be completed in only one extra year, so he’s doing that and working toward a masters in business. Blech. A microeconomics course was the closest I want to get to business studies.
We went and saw Spiderman 3 last night; boy, was that place packed. The theater had four houses showing it, and our particular one was mostly full by the time we got there. The theater had actually opened early that day so as to accommodate an early showing of the movie. I enjoyed it but it wasn’t as good as the two previous ones. Peter seemed more… commercial, and less lovably dorky. He was full of himself, as the role was supposed to be, I guess, but the script called for some weird 70′s-ish dancing and, apparently, an emo-slice haircut. Bizarre.
I try and steer clear of business courses too! I don’t know if I could sit through one for a whole semester.
Oooh new layout? Or is this just an old skin?
Anyway, eeep sorry to hear about your rash. :( Would suck a whole lot more if it was itchy though.
I loved the whole bizarre emo thing they had in Spiderman, that was so unexpected!
If you’re seeing blue, yellow, and pansies, it’s the new layout. :)
It was definitely unexpected!
