I have had a day filled with laundry and fiercely resisting my algorithms programming assignment. It’s due next Sunday and I really, really don’t like working on it; today was the second attempt I’ve made at getting anywhere with it. I normally love programming, but it’s just a pain when I don’t fully understand the algorithm I’m trying to implement (Prim’s), nor how I’m supposed to use the code that we’ve been given to implement it in the way that my professor wants. It doesn’t help that it uses C++, so I have to include and figure out a ton of different STL libraries. Stupid vertices and edges and vectors and binary heaps! At least on Tuesday, during our normal class period, we’ll be meeting in a lab to get help from a grad student and our professor with this assignment.
I’ve done three loads of laundry today because 1) I was running out of clothes and towels, and 2) I was sick of seeing The Heap Monster at the foot of my bed all the time. Other than that, I’ve not done much today. I fiddled online a bit and got prettied up earlier, because Todd and I have a date tonight (woohoo!). We know we’re seeing Hot Fuzz, which has really good reviews at both Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB, but we haven’t decided on a place for dinner yet.
Kentucky being the horse-loving place that it is, and Lexington being the capital of all things equine (shut up Versailles! you are not the “Horse Capital of the World”!), Keeneland race track is a pretty big thing around here in the summer. I went to it a couple weeks ago for College Day, in hopes of winning a scholarship, but it was ass-cold and snowing that day so, while it was still packed, it was apparently not nearly as packed as it is today. Bentley invited Todd to go along with him and a few friends, but Todd turned him down in light of the length of the line to get into Keeneland (extending about five miles beyond the entrance). So Todd and I went about our business, and two hours later, Bentley called to say that they had got in and parked. Boy, was Todd glad he didn’t go.

I’d love to go to keenland… And I need to do laundry but I’m not going to yet, ha. I’m so lazy.
What time did you all try to go to Keenland? I got there a little before the first race and had to park almost on Versailles Road. It took me about 20 minutes though to get from where I parked to the entrance. There were way too many people there. I left a little before three (well I left the track then) and it took me 35 minutes to get through the crowd, out the gate and to my car. I think that there were more people there today than yesterday, and there were 19,000 people there yesterday. While it was fun watching the races and hanging out around there, the crowd was just way too much for me.
