Me and the guys went to see the late showing of The 300 last night and I have to say I really enjoyed it. When it started I was a little shaky, due to the glowing wolf eyes and the fact that every scene was a big action shot with big music, but I kept reminding myself, “It’s Frank Miller, it’s Frank Miller.” I got over that after a while and just enjoyed the movie. By the end, I was all, “Yeah, Sparta! Whoo!”. It was like a happier Braveheart with a creepy golden dude, deformed lesbians, and a fairly kick-ass queen. I thought the fight scenes were really well choreographed; the slow motion fighting, followed by the actual killing very quickly, then more slow motion of the blood spatter. Overall, just a good action movie with Frank Miller darkness and artistry. Made me want to see Sin City again.
The other night, Eric went and got a cat that he’d seen up for free in the classifieds. Todd and I went with him and hung out with him + the cat, whose name is Simon, later. I was so jealous because that cat seemed to be darn near perfect: he was fat, very soft, and content to sit and be petted for long time periods. He was a Siamese so I was pretty surprised that he wasn’t bat-shit crazy; my experience with Siamese is that they’re either evil or loners, sometimes both. This guy was extremely cuddly. Well so anyway, last night the door to Eric’s apartment slipped open because it tends to do that, and of course Simon ran out. The guys, Todd’s sister, and Eric’s neighbor were all out looking for him but no luck. I was pretty sad about it because, man, was that an awesome cat. We went to see the movie, hoping he’d come back. Well, lo and behold, he did. He just wandered back, I suppose. I’m very happy he did, because Eric was pretty sad about it, and it sucked to lose the guy a day after Eric got him.
Plans today include going to lunch with Todd, his parents, who’re in town, and his sister. This evening, Eric made mention of some kind of Indian cultural festival where delicious Indian food will be served for only $5, so I’m hoping to go to that with Eric, Brent, and possibly Todd’s sister and Steve. In between lunch and dinner, I imagine I’ll be hanging out at my place or Todd’s, hoping that it won’t rain today as is predicted. Oh, and spring break has started, so I ain’t doin’ shit for a few days!
I went to see 300 last night and was amazed by it. I absolutely loved and it was so kick-ass. *Plus* it was totally hot with all those amazingly built guys, who wore close to nothing, and were sweaty and dirty while fighting. I was turned on. And had to watch myself to keep from drooling. I mean, who knew that the guy who played on LotR (the narrator) was so yummy?
