I feel so very tired right now. I was up at 8, had discrete math at 9:30, hit up the grocery for lunch for Todd and myself, went to algorithms, went to biology, went to work in the lab, got home and ate a snack, studied for two hours for my algorithms test on Thursday, made dinner for Todd and myself, and now I’m done. I lugged my laptop around to each class and then to and from work; I’m going to burn more calories lugging that sucker around. It’s been a long day, and I’m going to bed early tonight, darn it. Tomorrow should be considerably more pleasant because I only have two classes and I should get back graded work in each of them, which is always exciting. My microcomputer organization professor will be going over the test we just took, then I’ll get graded homework in discrete math recitation.
There were two pleasant work-related things today. One was Dr. Jaromczyk commenting that I shouldn’t just count hours sitting at a computer in the lab as work, but also any time I spend outside of that just thinking about the project. He asked if I might not change my 16 hours for this pay period to 20 in light of that. I don’t think that’s very reasonable in this case because I try to avoid thought of work when I’m not at work, but it’s nice to know he’s so understanding. The other nice thing was that I received an email from a guy at Rapleaf in San Francisco about a full-time position that he thought I might be interested in, doing Ruby on Rails work. I was so incredibly flattered to receive such an offer, even though of course I had to turn it down because 1) I’m still in school and thus can’t be moving across the country and 2) I’m not ready to leave Kentucky yet anyway. He did offer a $5,000 referral bonus if I were to refer someone they end up hiring, so if anyone reading this does Ruby on Rails work and lets me know, I’d be much obliged and would definitely send your name, haha. I’m thinking of suggesting Todd[1], though I doubt he’d want to move either.
Haha, Todd was on my couch with his Macbook open in his lap, and commented, “On a side note, I love this computer.” I was bringing my Powerbook over to sit next to him and said, “I know exactly what you mean.” He then came to the realization that we were both going to be sitting side-by-side on my couch, using our Apple laptops to surf the ‘net. This caused him to exclaim, “Oh my God, we are the perfect nerdy couple,” and kissing ensued.
Hey, teach me this Ruby on Rails thing and I’ll go :D
When Ty and I can’t be together we sit on the phone and talk about the video games we are each currently playing. We talked for 2 hours about roller coaster tycoon when we were both playing. It was funny. Yay for nerdy couples.
