Dreamhost is reporting outages, which would explain 3till7.net not loading a few minutes ago and Bentley being unable to access it the other day. Here’s hoping it stays fixed. In other news, though, Dad sent me an email pointing me to an article he’d written about FedEx’s crappy service back in 2003 and 2004: FedExSux. Truer words have not been spoken. He pretty much had the same experience as me, saying that a FedEx representative “couldn’t tell me when my package might be delivered because that ‘local facility is closed for today and tomorrow’.” Hmm, that sounds really familiar. It seems like my dad’s technique for dealing with them after their failures was to be witty rather than just very, very pissed off, like myself: “If you are not holding the package for ransom, would you please tell me the FedEx policy, or point me to some nice snazzy, hyperbole-filled website outlining such policy, concerning how many days a package must be hauled around before being kicked out the door at some random location?”
Today was my first day taking the Powerbook to class with me. It worked pretty well, but I discovered OmniOutliner only allows files with 20 bullets in the unlicensed version, so I ended up with three little files of notes for EE 380. I’m either going to buy the license for $40 or use Todd’s older, licensed version. I felt so snazzy, sitting there in class with my pretty laptop, taking notes much quicker than usual because I’m a fast typist but a slow writer.
Yeah I liked taking notes on my laptop (I just do it in word, my new microsoft office has one note but I bought that on the day my computer died) too. Hopefully I’ll have it back by Friday… The word was “A week and a half” last Wednesday. Blah.
