my useless lab partner

This semester has been very mixed for me so far. On one hand, I have professors like Dr. Dietz and Dr. Jaromczyk, who give excellent lectures and, so far, fair homeworks and tests. I also have professors like Dr. Douglas, who just reads off a Powerpoint presentation for lecture, but who seems to be lenient at least in grading. On the other hand, I have had some of the most frustrating and confusing homework in discrete math. I look at the examples, I read in the book, I email the T.A., and this crap still doesn’t make sense. But my main complaint right now is one of my physics lab partners. We’ve got a lab report due tomorrow; we’ve had two weeks to work on it. This guy didn’t email me his stuff until about 15 minutes ago. I’ve finished what I can of my part (the rest depends on his work), Jessica sent me her stuff days ago, and it all comes down to this idiot. Happy to finally have his stuff, I go to work. It’s no good, because:

  1. He left off units of measurement in his propagations of error;
  2. When I checked the sample calculation he gave, it didn’t work out to be even close to his answer;
  3. He hasn’t answered all the questions and said he won’t be able to till tonight because he left his booklet somewhere else (yeah, nuts to that, I emailed him the questions);
  4. He wrote one single paragraph of explanation. Jessica and I went on for a few pages with our sections.

Sigh; at least my apple pies turned out well.

  1. I’ve got a lab partner (haha for highschool Chem2 which is Organic Chemistry) who is obsessed with making sure he does everything right but… can’t do it. And always has to ask stupid questions about the lab reports. You still calculate percent yield the same way… We’ve done it for at LEAST 12 labs now… Oh well.
