For the past couple of days, I’ve been packing up stuff at my old apartment and moving it over to my new one. This has led me to the conclusion that I have an obscene amount of crap. Pots, pans, dishes, food, clothes, shoes, books, DVD’s, CD’s, bed, coffee table, sewing machine, various rolling Rubbermaid containers with drawers, cleaning supplies, bath stuff, TV, DVD player, shelves… I’ve been able to pack up the small things but I’ve been unable to get a truck to get my furniture moved over. Ike and Todd[1] are out, so I called Jess and checked up on her aunt’s truck, but it’s being used this weekend, too. Tomorrow, though, Todd[1]’s truck should be available to us. Electricity gets turned on at the new place on Wednesday, then the cable company is coming Thursday to get my Internet and TV set up.
Last night was mine and Todd’s 10-month anniversary and our plans had included going to dinner and a movie. However, Todd has had a cold and has been coughing like mad for what seems like several weeks. So instead of a movie, we went to an urgent care center. Turns out he had either really bad bronchitis or borderline pneumonia, the doctor wasn’t sure which. He was prescribed some antibiotics and steroids, so hopefully he gets better soon. It’s a wonder I haven’t caught anything yet. It may be my cold sore that’s saved me, though, since we haven’t been kissing and the doctor thinks he only recently developed pneumonia.
Classes start Wednesday and Trin’s coming Tuesday. All kinds of things are happening soon! She’s coming to class with me, haha, which probably won’t be fun for her, but hey, it was her decision. She’ll get to see both my apartments in their messy states. My old apartment is mostly empty now, except for a few random things (Christmas tree, plants, humidifier, etc.) and large furniture. By the time she gets here, I’ll probably have it fully emptied. I may even put the girl to work helping me clean the old place or set up the new one. That’s why she’s coming to Kentucky, after all, I’m sure!
One complaint I have about my new place is the lack of storage space, particularly in the kitchen. Get this: there are no drawers. The hell! Who designed that kitchen? There are two fake drawer fronts under the sink, but no actual drawers. Thank goodness for Rubbermaid and their rolling drawer sets. I’ve already got one big one that’s holding my utensil holder, flour, etc., but I’m going to buy another because, as I said before, I have an obscene amount of crap. Somehow, all my stuff is going to fit, too, I think. The first night after I decided to get the place, I freaked out because I was trying to think how I would cram all my stuff from a one-bedroom apartment into a studio. I took measurements of the living/bedroom area and the kitchen, gave them to Todd, and he made out two floor plans that include all my stuff. That was reassuring, I can tell you; I didn’t like the idea of having to take my coffee table or sewing machine, for example, back to my parents’ house. Once I get the place set up, I’ll have to take photos.
