Petshopgirls Reviews
Blue and white always look nice together, don't ya think? Whenever I see them I think that I'm looking at a professional, clean cut sort of site. Your banner is very simple... perhaps too simple. Your blog and navigation lay below but nothing here stands out. I'm thinking that perhaps this website is heavily reliant on content rather than design, and I firmly believe in an equal balance. Shall we dance then?

layouts and graphics
I found an awesome tutorial today using RMagick to create some nifty photo collages with a transparent, slide-like photos, and I can’t wait to try it out. I’m installing RMagick now and plan to experiment. Another nifty graphics-related tool that my dad found and sent to me was Fyre: “Fyre is a tool [...]
cooking sprees and clogged drains
The girls and I spent several hours today cooking at my apartment. We met at 11 and picked out the recipes we wanted to use, compiling a grocery list. Moms were called when we wanted to deviate from the recipes, or wanted to try something not in one of our books. We [...]
laundry battle and crab upgrade
I just had a funny moment with Todd. He was playing some racing game on the 360 and I sat down beside him, snuggling up to his arm. I apparently blocked his vision a bit, so he warned me not to. Well, you can’t tell me that and not expect a reaction; [...]
cracker flippin’
So I was buttering a cracker when all hell broke loose. Bentley, Todd, and I went out to Ramsey’s tonight, and our meal caused Bentley to note that he should wear safety goggles around me while I eat. While buttering, I managed to flip the cracker through the air and onto the ground. [...]

chicken, dry skin, and a sweater
I made dinner for Todd and myself tonight, and I definitely recommend the recipe I used for Cheddar baked chicken. I substituted Monteray Jack and Colby for Cheddar, and I only needed two breast halves because my bird had some knockers on her.
Nothing exciting has been happening, which would explain why I’ve not been [...]

new Shuffle
I’m listening to my new iPod Shuffle. :) I ordered it a few days ago and it came today. I just finished filling it with songs and I’ve since been treated to Tom Petty, Placebo, Deftones, and now The Crystal Method; a nice mix. Ooh, and here’s Mary Jane’s Last Dance [...]

Heat Nazis and confrontations
Brr, Todd’s apartment is never very warm, and anytime I turn up the heat, the Heat Nazi (a.k.a. Todd) runs back in here, exclaims about high electric bills, and chucks a sweater at me. Or so I would like: he never actually chucks sweaters at me, but he always turns down the heat. [...]
#post method in tests with a different controller
I wanted a #login method in test_helper that would allow me to easily login from any of my functional tests. However, the #post method won’t allow you to set a different controller than the one in the @controller instance variable that’s defined in your test’s #setup. Well, by looking at how the #process method works, [...]

the nut holding the other wheel
If someone wanted to enact a set of Asshole Reducing laws, I wouldn’t be opposed. I think if I had to write them up, they’d be centered around driving because, boy, do I meet a lot of assholes on the road. Here are some examples:
“I use driving my car as an excuse to [...]
the many methods to #find things in Rails
For the longest time, I didn’t understand the full power of the various #find methods in Rails. I probably still don’t, but my understanding of them has certainly expanded. I used to use plain #find for everything. If I wanted to find all rows in the table ‘groups’ that had an ‘id’ [...]
new theme: Silver
I’ve been working on a new layout today and I just set it as the default. If you preferred one of the other themes, they’re still available in the sidebar. I’m on Todd’s PowerBook currently and beyond that I’m at my parents’ house, so I’m surrounded by Linux boxes. Therefore, I haven’t [...]
new fan listing
I went through my various memberships today and cleaned out broken links. Upon seeing that the C++ fan listing is still around, I decided to check for a Ruby one. Lo and behold, there wasn’t! I couldn’t just let that stand, and I had just read about Jem’s BellaBuffs, so I applied [...]
Ruby shirts and reviews
There’s some Latino guy on TV yelling about multi-variable calculus… I just grabbed a chocolate chip cookie and came back upstairs; I don’t know what movie that is that Mom’s watching. I’m currently ogling t-shirts on Ruby Stuff, trying to find a nice one that both expresses my geekiness and makes me look [...]

beans and links
Wow, I haven’t updated in a while. It hasn’t been because I’ve been too busy off doing exciting things, but rather the opposite: ain’t shit happenin’. Let’s see, what have I been into… Well, Wednesday was mine and Todd’s 9-month anniversary, so I made dinner and we watched a movie. [...]

cushaw and hash
I’m at Jessica’s house with her and her family behind me talking about something Jessica saw on Facebook. I got here this morning and watched The Soup on VH1. We sat around and watched a bit more before heading out to pick up a gift from me to Jessica’s parents, who are my [...]

mumbleramble.org and Typo’s suckage
Friday night, I went through HostingRails.com and set up a second domain. I want a test bed to easily play with Ruby and Rails applications without having to worry about setting it up on 3till7 through Dreamhost and potentially messing up something here. My big idea for now is to write a directory [...]
further MR updates
Well, I’ve gone so far as to get a simple Mephisto blog set up on mumbleramble.org as well as a sub-domain for Hegemony, though the rewrite’s still not ready to go live. I gotta say, the Hosting Rails guys have been very helpful and responsive getting various libraries and gems installed for me. [...]
widescreens and French bread
Todd and I exchanged Christmas gifts yesterday, so I finally got to open the 20″ Benq monitor that’s been hanging out in his closet for a month. Man, going from 1024×768 on my 15″ LCD to 1680×1050 is a big change. This is the first widescreen I’ve had, and it’s interesting having so [...]
