movies and jewellery

Tonight is dinner+movie night with the girls but Jessica has a hall meeting at 7, so we’re waiting on her. Dinner was on our own, so I just made some garlic chicken and fries for Todd and myself. When Jess gets out of her meeting, though, we’re still watching a movie together: Aeon Flux at my place. That movie was surprisingly good when I watched it with the guys earlier this year, so when I found it on sale the other day, I picked up a copy for $8. I suggested My Neighbor Totoro because that’s a very good film, and I even hate Anime. Most Anime isn’t like Miyazaki’s stuff, though, because most Anime that I’ve seen pisses me off. Still shots of gasping people that last for 4 seconds do not excite me. Miyazaki’s stuff, however, is very creative, plot-wise, and the animation is high quality. However, the girls weren’t up for an Anime because, like me, they have this bad connotation of the word ‘Anime’. I gots ta get them to watch My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, or one of Miyazaki’s others!

So the other afternoon, I came to Todd’s house and his mail included a Macy’s sale paper for the jewellery department. He plopped it down in my lap and, while he was heading out the door to go upstairs and see Steve, he said, “Pick out something you like, but don’t make it too expensive or I won’t be able to get it for you for our anniversary.” Of course, my response was to drop my jaw and say, “Whaa…?!”, but by then he was already upstairs. Being a girl and fond of sparkly things, I’m incredibly excited about this. I went through the sale paper and circled all the things I wanted that were $350 or less. Oh, I can’t wait to see what he gets me!

  1. Man, that’s cool about the sparkly gift! You’ll have to show off your bling once you get it!

And damnit, ALL anime is cark! I will NEVER watch it!

  2. “Still shots of gasping people that last for 4 seconds do not excite me.”

Grrrr, I KNOW! My sister and brother used to watch Dragonball Z and whenever I caught glimses of those scenes, it was impossible not to laugh. So ridiculous. Lol! But I really loved Howl’s Moving Castle so I have to be sure to see some of his others.

I agree with Trin! I look forward to pictures of the blingage! How sweet of Todd, seriously.

  3. Ooh, I also meant to email you but since I’m already here… Can you email me your mailing address for this academic year? I need to add you to my address book for random mail things. Haha! Well, I guarantee a Christmas card at least. :)
