I have the Internet again! Last night, Jess called ResNet and we got excited because they actually moved today’s 7-9 p.m. appointment up to yesterday from 7-9 p.m… Then they didn’t show up. I called back and griped about it, but then got incredibly annoyed when I was told that, not only did it not matter that they didn’t show up last night, but our original appointment for tonight had been cancelled, and now the earliest they could get us in was freaking Monday from 7-9 p.m. The ResNet girl said they had no control over when the people came, that that was Insight Broadband’s business. She gave me a number for Insight and I left a very grouchy message on that woman’s machine. Then Todd emailed a friend today who’s higher up in the university than we are, so apparently something worked to get these people in gear.
Let’s see, what have I been up to. Well, I got back in town on Sunday from spring break and Todd and I hung out. He had flowers for me as well as a DVD of Alice in Wonderland that I already had, so we exchanged it for 28 Days Later, which I had been meaning to buy but had never gotten around to. I had made him some chicken and dumplings as well as pineapple upside-down cake over the break and was very nervous about how he’d like it, but that turned out fine as he enjoyed them both.
Since getting back, I’ve just been going to work and hanging out with friends, as usual. I have to end my fun tonight, though, and do my taxes. Yes, I realize half of you people probably already have your refund checks by now, but I’m a slacker. They aren’t due until April 15 anyway!
For the past few days, I’ve been messing around with Ruby and Ruby on Rails at work and I’m loving them. It’s such a pretty language and Rails looks like it will be really useful. I’m thinking of trying it out here as a CMS for both my blog and regular site. That would involve a lot of work, however, as well as a lot of time that I don’t really have. However, I’m sure I can use it somewhere other than at work.
Actually, taxes aren’t due until April 17 because the 15th falls on a weekend. That means you have an extra 2 whole days, but I wouldn’t put if off much longer if I were you.
Yay for the Internet!
Ah, taxes. Yet another reason I’m glad I’m not all grown up yet.
Ha! RECEIVED my refund? Hell, I’ve already SPENT it!
