I agree with this article. I think it’s very important to make sure your site is compatible with more than one browser. I hate seeing lines like “Best viewed in -insert browser name–.” It’s so annoying!
By the way, this page isn’t XHTML valid; there’s a few errors you might want to fix. Just letting you know. :)

I know my site might not be accessible in all browsers, but it covers the main three (I think): FireFox, I.E & Safari. To test my site on different browsers I go to Browsershots.org. It hows you a preview of your site in almost every browser.

Knowing your site will work in multiple browsers before its creation is difficult. The best way I know how to do it is to make your code standard, and even then not all browsers follow the standards (such as IE, although I hear 7 is going to be better about that) and even if they do, they don't follow them in exactly the same way.

I most definitely agree with your point with designing for one browser but the problem is how are you going to know if your site will work for more than one browser. The archival site I’m working on right now is being pain because once I finished writing the code and check it on IE it’s perfect. Go to FireFox and not so great. Is there some kind of test you can run through to know that it will work well enough on each kind of browser through HTML and CSS or is this a php thing? Thank you.
