evening plans, crummy weather

At Jessica’s urging, I’m posting in here, even though nothing exciting is happening in my life at the moment. Today was the last day of classes; physics was okay, though he didn’t do any cool demos. CS was as boring as usual and I don’t know why I thought it necessary to go, since I didn’t pay attention. I should be in calculus right now, but he talked on Wednesday of cancelling class today since there weren’t many questions. I’ll leave for work in a few minutes, where I’ve been working on the Registrar’s site (again). It’s okay work, just really dull because all I’m doing is converting old pages to a new look, which involves a lot of clean-up of messy Frontpage code.

The girls and I are going out to dinner tonight and, if the weather’s good, for a carriage ride through downtown. Then we’ll come back to the dorm, exchange gifts, and watch Audrey Hepburn movies. I’ll probably give Scott his gift tonight, too; I’ve already received mine from him: a jean jacket from Hollister that’s very cute. I’ve also received my gift from Jessica’s parents: a pot of body “souffle” from Bath and Body Works and a t-shirt saying “got root?”. I’m hoping to exchange gifts with Todd this weekend and I need to get Trin’s in the mail. Hell, I need to actually wrap Trin’s, and then get it in the mail.

The weather here sucks! It started raining yesterday, then that turned into sleet, and finally it snowed. All the sidewalks were iced over, which made getting around campus stressful since any time I got on pavement, I had to watch my step. I finally gave up on that and just walked in the grass whenever I could.

I miss classes that aren’t math-related, like English and history. Don’t get me wrong, I love math and engineering courses, but I have this urge to write an essay about the effects Paul had on the Romans or something like that. I don’t think any honors program courses are taught over the summer, and they’re all literature/writing courses, or I’d try to get into one. I have to take classes this summer anyway, since I’m co-oping; it’s apparently one of the requirements. I need at least six hours of classes, three hours of which must be from an engineering course. Maybe for the other three hours, I can squeeze in a general studies requirement that’ll be some psychology, biology, or similar course.

I keep listening to “All I Really Want to Do” by Bob Dylan. The goofy little part when he sings “do” in “all I really want to do” cracks me up, but I love this song. Lyrics:

I ain’t lookin’ to compete with you,
Beat or cheat or mistreat you,
Simplify you, classify you,
Deny, defy or crucify you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

No, and I ain’t lookin’ to fight with you,
Frighten you or uptighten you,
Drag you down or drain you down,
Chain you down or bring you down.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

I ain’t lookin’ to block you up
Shock or knock or lock you up,
Analyze you, categorize you,
Finalize you or advertise you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

I don’t want to straight-face you,
Race or chase you, track or trace you,
Or disgrace you or displace you,
Or define you or confine you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

I don’t want to meet your kin,
Make you spin or do you in,
Or select you or dissect you,
Or inspect you or reject you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

I don’t want to fake you out,
Take or shake or forsake you out,
I ain’t lookin’ for you to feel like me,
See like me or be like me.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.

  1. Ooh, I love receiving presents. :) Thanks!

I did have a great time last night; the carriage ride was the best, even though I enjoyed the slab of bloody meat with French fries that I had for dinner. :D I now have a new keyboard and mouse from Jessica, as well as two shirts from Ashlee!
