future Lexmark employee

I got the job! Next semester, I’ll be co-oping at Lexmark in their Color Science and Imaging section, writing code all day. I’ll work forty hours a week for $12.50 an hour. I think I’m going to end up staying in the dorm, too, since I recently found out I’m able to, due to me having a full-time status while co-oping through the university. My other option was to stay in an extended-stay hotel since Lexmark pays for their co-ops to live in one. I’m excited; I’ve got to learn Perl and improve my PHP skills. I’ll also be doing C, C++, and possibly Ruby.

I’ve borrowed two George Strait albums from Scott just so I could have the song “All My Ex’s Live in Texas.” I rarely listen to country because I just don’t like it that much, but I really like this song. I now have more George Strait ripped onto my computer than I know what to do with, especially since one album was a greatest hits collection with fifty songs.

  1. I know I told you this yesterday, but congrats on that job! How does that work out with your classes since you’ll be working 40 hours a week?

GEORGE STRAIT? What the HELL??? Are you SICK, girl? Don’t listen to that shit! You shall have better music coming your way very shortly!

  2. Since I’m co-oping, I’m not expected to take any classes. I might take a night class, but it’s not required.

Better get Rosenrot to me quick, girl, before I decide industrial ain’t got nothin’ on country. :D

  3. No, it’s not required, but it is an option. I don’t know if it’s just for the College of Engineering. I suspect it isn’t, but engineering is the only area in which I hear of people co-oping. I chose to do it for the work experience and the money.
