work and baseball

I’m pretty excited because I just got an email back from the manager of a department at Lexmark, asking if I’m still interested in a co-op position there this spring, because if so, he’d like to talk to me. I emailed him back and said that I’m very much interested, and asked when a convenient time to meet would be. Ooh, I hope I get a position there. Since I would be going through UK’s co-op program, I would be able to work full-time without worrying about taking a full class load at the same time (no classes or one if I choose), with starting salary around $12 per hour. Man, I hope I get the job.

Work was fun today because I started a new project with my boss, Mark, that involved me designing a new look for a page for the president of the university, which is always fun. Of course I was worried about impressing Mark, since he is my boss, but when he looked over my work before I left for the day, he was all quiet, then started laughing, then clapped and said it was fantastic; I’ve never had my web design called “very hot” before this afternoon. Fun stuff. I’m going to go in tomorrow and add some descriptions to some links, perhaps change around some colors, and make sure it’s all 508 compliant in preparation for it to be shown off on Friday to whichever group hired us to redesign it.

With very little surprise, I discovered last night that I suck at baseball, at least when played on a PS2. Scott and I played against each other on some game of his and we finally stopped when he was ahead by 40… points? Forty somethings. I know jack about baseball, but it’s one of his loves and he used to play it and playing a baseball game last night was better than just sitting around staring at the wall, so I joined in. I was finally getting the hang of the controls and an idea of how to play the game when we stopped, so next time I’ll be sure to whoop his butt soundly and without delay… Yeah, right.
