I was informed in CS today by Jessica that we’re not going to sleep tonight. When the two of us get back from helping at the programming competition (I’m one of the judges, I don’t know what Jess’ll be doing), we’re going to stay up and watch movies with Ashlee before finally going to get Midnight Madness tickets at the butt-crack of dawn. Midnight Madness, from what I’ve gleaned, is when our boys basketball team starts practice. It’s a free event and apparently pretty popular around here, considering this is UK basketball country. I think it’s in October, but tickets are available starting tomorrow. I’d been wondering why fans were camping out in front of Memorial Coliseum (I’m not even kidding: they have tents and shit all out on the sidewalk) for the past few days.
Yesterday I had a pit crew getting me ready for the day. I had twenty minutes to shower, get dressed, fix my hair, and get make-up on before I had to leave for work. I got a ten minute shower then got dressed by myself, but after that, Jess dried my hair while I put on shoes, make-up, and perfume. Ashlee fetched paraphernalia that I needed, such as deodorant. I actually turned out looking nice for someone that had prepared in such a short amount of time. I discovered that my hair is really cute when straight, so I dried it straight last night as well and it still looks good this morning after having slept on it.
Ashlee had an annoying story to share yesterday evening. Apparently she came out of the room with Doug while Molly and Charlotte, a couple of girls that live in my hall, walked behind. The subject of hick accents came up and Molly said something like, “Speaking of hick accents, my neighbors at about 8 o’clock this morning were like ‘Let me blow dry your hair!’ and I was like, it’s 8:00, go to bed,” and of course she said this with a horribly pronounced southern accent. Since Charlotte lives on one side of Molly and we live on the other, she was talking about us, though that’s obvious because Jess was the one to say that about drying my hair. A few points: to me, Jess doesn’t sound like a hick; we weren’t loud in comparison with how Molly, her roommate Jessica, and their friends are any given night; and that’s just rude. If you’re going to talk about somebody, at least do it when they’re not right in front of you. Ashlee said when we stay up to get Midnight Madness tickets, we’re all going to be noisy and she’s going to be a particular bitch by pounding on the wall. Molly and her roommate should be the only people we disturb, fortunately, because we don’t have anyone else living on the other side of us.
I hope our calculus tests are graded and we’ll get them back in lecture today. My professor said today’s the earliest we can expect them. I think I did well, but there’s always the fear that I made some stupid mistake and got a lower score. There were only five questions worth six points apiece. This weekend I’ll be studying both physics and EE as I have tests in each next week. The following week I’ll have my first CS test, too.
I talked to Candice the other night on the phone for the first time since coming back to campus. She had found a cassette tape of us doing karaoke and played the funniest parts back to me; I recorded one part on my phone because it was when we had messed up the tape player to where everything sounded deeper, which had the effect of making us sound like gay males. I was cracking up, causing Ashlee to laugh at me; Candice said she’ll make a copy of the whole tape and mail it to me.

Gah. Those girls sound exactly like The Lesbians from last year. Any time they’d see you in the hall or the elevator, they’d make a point to talk about you. They were ridiculous…but we were so rude to them that it was funny :D
