sushi and physics

David left about twenty minutes ago. We hung out for a while tonight, swapping music such as Megaherz and A Perfect Circle. Him, Jess, and I went to Miyako earlier for sushi, and it was definitely better than previous sushi I’ve had. I had the “Red Dragon” dish which consisted of about eight California rolls with spiced tuna inside and some type of caviar, lemon slices, salmon, and little onion slices on top. Very tasty. I had never tried wasabi before and while David warned me that it was hot, I went ahead and picked off a little bit with my chopsticks. It couldn’t have been a clump larger than a fat pumpkin seed, but that shit is hot. At first I just let it sit on my tongue then decided I’d better swallow it so I could guzzle my Dr Pepper, but then it burned my nose when it went down my throat. Gad. Jessica watched me try it and she finally just had to turn away from laughing at my expression. My eyes must’ve gotten as wide as half dollars. I also learned how to use chopsticks; the girls and Doug went to Wal-mart a little earlier, and they’re supposed to find a pair of chopsticks for me to use around here.

Class was fine today. I had physics recitation for the first time and it was fine, though I seemed to be the only person that answered questions the TA asked us. I think I messed up on the quiz, though; we were supposed to do something really simple: get the volume of a box and convert it into inches. I, however, didn’t convert the units to inches beforehand, I did it afterward, but then I didn’t cube them. I realized this as soon as I got outside and felt like kicking myself. I found out how to do problem #2 on the homework, though, and it turns out Patrick, Tiffany, Jess, and I had been doing it correctly up to the point where we were dividing the new planet’s density into Earth’s density; it should have been the other way around. I did that, entered the answer online, and it was right. Shazam, done with that. It’s not due till Friday, so I’m happy to have it out of the way early.

I have some Spanish to do for tomorrow but I’ll probably do that in the morning when I get up at 7 (a.k.a. the butt crack of dawn) since I won’t have class until 9. I’m going to give Scott a call in a little bit and see if he wants to hang out tonight.

  1. Actually they were uramaki rolls which are a type of makizushi. California rolls are also a type of makizushi called futomaki. The main difference is that uramaki has rice on the outside while the futomaki and other forms of makizushi have the rice inside the nori (seaweed). :P

All this music you gave me is great btw. :)
