going home

I get to go home tomorrow! It’ll be great to see my family, even though I’ll only be there for about three weeks as I’ve decided to come back here in July to work more. Todd has a second apartment that he has to rent in order to be able to move into it later, but for July it will be empty, so he’s letting me stay there cheap, though we haven’t discussed a specific price. I wanted to take over the position of Ike at work (he has taken another position elsewhere) when I return, since he’s a programmer whereas I do mostly HTML stuff, but if I go home tomorrow (which I am), then John (my boss) thinks I won’t have enough time to learn as much PHP as I’ll need to, and so I’ll be stuck doing the same thing in July and this fall that I’ve been doing, which is very boring compared to programming. Personally, I think that’s B.S. as I’m a fast learner, but whatever. I’ll still be getting paid, which is the main point of the job.

Jess came over today after work to pick up a picture CD of hers, then we went out to dinner at Red Lobster (which she kept referring to as The Lobster, which made me chuckle). I stuffed myself on shrimp, but I still couldn’t finish the whole meal; the rest is sitting in my fridge. I got to pig out on cocktail sauce which, next to sour cream, is one of the finer edible substances in life. She wanted to buy a fan at Meijer’s since her A.C. is out, though we never made it there after dinner. I suggested, however, that we buy it at Big Ass Fans, which is a local company whose main advertisement is a big donkey on the side of a building with the huge words “Big Ass Fans” alongside it. That cracks me up. I think they sell industrial-sized fans, though, which probably isn’t what Jess needs sitting beside her bed.

I found the niftiest song earlier, supposedly by Jewel, and it’s an acapella version of Foolish Games. It’s the fourth one down (currently) at Radio Blog Club. Whoever is singing it (it doesn’t quite sound like Jewel) has a lovely voice.

I got most of my stuff packed today after work, with thanks to Jess for help. I have to pack up my sheets, the stuff I’ll use tomorrow to get ready, my computer stuff, my lamp, and a couple of other things, then I’m good to go. Well, I have my final at 10 a.m., which I keep forgetting about, but then I can get to loading things into my car. Ike and Todd are supposed to help me, which will be great as my fridge is an awkward bitch to carry.
