The concept here is definitely a different one. As far as the colours go, I would have probably chosen more of a purple shade to go along with the blue instead of pink, but that’s just personal opinion. I would have made the differences in the shades of colours for the text on the graphic more drastic, too. The “3″ could be darker, and the light pink “3 till 7″ could also stand to be slightly darker. It doesn’t really show up that well on the pink portion of the background.
I love the circular area where the text is, however I would have moved the scrollbar to the left so it didn’t stick out in the center of the image. This can be done by specifying the direction:rtl; property in the CSS for that main text layer. While doing this, though, you’ll have to make sure to set text-align:left; because you are essentially reversing all alignment in that layer when changing the direction to right.
Content is definitely the strong point of this site. It’s everywhere and includes everything. You’ve got a lengthy biography that branches into different sections, which is a very unique feature, all sorts of pictures, digital art, poetry, other writing, dreams, surveys, links, random interesting things, etc. I could honestly stay here for at least a good hour just looking around and then another hour or two actually reading through everything. It’s not often that I come across a site as well-maintained as this and when I do stumble upon one, it’s definitely one I’ll bookmark. You actually show your visitors that there is a person behind the page. There’s so much more here than a boring blog entry about how Friday night’s date went and five links to the same type of boring sites. It’s a true shame that sites like this no longer exist on the Internet.
As far as suggestions go, I’ve already told you how I feel on the scrollbar issue. It’d just look neater and more out of the way if it were over on the left. I’d also mess with the contrast in the graphic so the text on it is more readable. Other than that, don’t touch a thing. Everything else is perfect. Although I’m one for big, impressive graphics, I can see why simplicity is important here. There is so much else to look at and read that large, detailed graphics would only hinder the overall experience. It’s definitely evident what the emphasis of this site is placed on, and it’s good.
