I have a job! I’ll now be working on redesigning the UK web pages for $9-something an hour, beginning tomorrow. I went in yesterday for my interview and the lady hired me right off based upon a recommendation from another person who works for her (whom I know from this past summer: I worked with her in the bioinformatics research dealy) and because she had seen my web site upon finding my URL in my email signature. I’m a little antsy but also quite excited since I’ll be doing stuff I do anyway in my free time, but now I’ll be getting paid for it. :) I’ll work Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in a building on the other side of campus but that, fortunately, is close to my classes so I can head right over after getting out of class.
I have some homework for tonight but American Idol will be on so I probably won’t start working until 9p because I procrastinate like that. A list of things to do:
CS 215 – begin work on Program 1 (hopefully fun); read about classes and data abstraction (yay, we finally get to start on this stuff!)
economics – do pages 20-23 in workbook; do practice problems for quiz #5; begin my outline of chapter 3; check times for LEAP tutoring so that I can attend one session and thus get credit for quiz #3
calculus – do four problems
honors – read something from Early Christian Fathers, edited by Cyril Richardson
Spanish – write a short composition
I received a CD of random music from James today and am liking some of it (i.e. – the little of it that I’ve listened to). He got a CD of mostly NIN from me and said he quite likes it, but of course he does since it’s NIN and they rock. (On a side note, Matt just mentioned something about “whale’s tale pale ale,” which I found to be an interesting if not downright entertaining phrase.) I’m supposed to watch some movies with him–James, that is, not Matt–this weekend, about which I’m excited because it means I’ll get to see Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run) again as well as Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, which I’ve yet to see.
I think I’ll take my shower and then start on my Spanish composition. ¡Olé!
What do you mean “you’ll get to see ‘Lola rennt’ again” (No capital r! German only capitalizes nouns in titles, just like in regular writing.)? You act like you can never watch it. I bought you the thing! Watch it religiously!
~9$ an hour? Shit! I wish I could get paid that much.
Congrats on the job! Sounds excellent.
Okay, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is an awesome movie. I forgot the actor’s name (Cary Grant? Oh, I can’t remember) but he looks very good in that movie. ;) Plus, that movie takes place in none other than where my college is.
God damnit. I have always vowed never to make a TypeKey account simply because it’s unnecessary farting about that I shouldn’t have to do. However, not being able to comment on your entries has driven me up the wall, so hoorah.. I created an account.
I wanted to congratulate you on your new job! I think you’re lucky to get one so easily, and I hope when I leave college this year, my job-searching adventures will be as equally fruitful. :D
