fuses, deer, packing material

I managed to forget to bring my honors paper with me when I went to Spanish so I had to go back to north campus later to turn it in. My car did fine getting me from K-lot to the parking lot next to the Student Center, but when I went to start it after dropping off that paper, it never would. It sounded normal it just never seemed to catch. Annoyed, I borrowed the cell phone of the parking lot attendant who reassured me that I didn’t have to keep feeding the meter. I tried first to call Steve but couldn’t get an answer, so I dialed my cousin Jay. He said he’d come out and help me, to my great relief.

I was settled into the driver’s seat reading Shadow Puppets when the thought hit me that it’d be funny if Steve had to come to the Student Center for some reason. Not two seconds later, I saw his car pulling into the empty spot next to mine. O_o Turns out he’d noticed my call, called the attendant back, and found out, I suppose, that some chick in a parking lot was having car trouble. He poked around at my baby for a while but couldn’t see anything wrong with it. When Jay got there, neither did he for about fifteen minutes. When checking the fuses, however, he found that one dealing with my fuel injection was broken. He replaced that one with the fuse for my seat heaters and the car started up just fine. Rrgh… I feel bad for having bugged the two of them but was quite grateful to have my car mobile again. I wish I had thought to check the fuses myself before calling, but then I wouldn’t have known that I could replace one with another; I thought they were more specific than that. Eh, live and learn.

While cruising down the interstate, I glanced over and was shocked to see a deer going right past my head. Some guy (I assume it was a male, I didn’t actually see the driver) had a deer tied to the seat of a four-wheeler which was strapped to the bed of his truck. The deer was lying on its side with its front torn open. An interesting thing to be passed by, definitely.

I was going to watch some Futurama earlier but realized that I left the disc I had been watching at school. Guess I’ll be watching episodes that I’ve already seen before here, but that’s not a big deal; Futurama is good even after multiple passes. I must get Dad to watch some episodes with me.

About an hour ago, a UPS truck pulled up outside; Dad brought in a giant box addressed to Mom. I was watching when it was opened and both my father and I were surprised to find no real contents, or so it appeared. Digging through what seemed to be packing material, we found no object that might have been the purpose of the shipment. Mom informed us, however, that the packing material was what she ordered: it’s a mix of coconut shell, sponge rock, and charcoal and it’s supposed to be a good substance for planting certain plants in. Who knew.

I tried to watch Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels earlier but I just couldn’t do it. That is one of the the most boring movies I’ve seen in a long while. I watched about an hour and fifteen minutes of it before I finally just called it quits and turned the TV over to my brother. Snatch was way better.

How strange, I’ve never been passed by a deer before like that. I’m jealous. ;D
