change, packing

My band director made a comment today that I agree with: “The best definition of maturity is the ability to delay gratification.”

I’ve been reading The Silence of the Lambs by Thomas Harris. I’ve read it before but I love the book and got tired of reading Waiting for the Galactic Bus by… someone. I forgot the author of that book.

I started a change jar. Mom cleaned out her purse and gave me a bunch of pennies, nickels, dimes, and a quarter. I have a small blue bag full of pennies that I collected a few years ago but I have misplaced it. I was looking for it earlier and didn’t find it, but I did find the battery charger that Mom bought for me way back last spring and I haven’t seen since last summer. The thing was just sitting in my floor nonchalantly.

I leave for this summer’s program at UK on May 31. Graduation is on May 28. On May 29 and 30, I’ll be packing like a wild thing to get ready for moving in the next day. I’m trying to think of things I’ll need. I’ve started a list of things for Mom to buy me; so far, I only have “3 disposable cameras.”

I went to Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari yesterday on a school trip. I had the best time. I’m sunburnt on my back, face, and shoulders but it was worth it. That is an awesome theme park.
